Networked Learning Conference 2006

Filed under: Academic Life, Conferences, Research — armartinell @ 12:56 pm

The fifth international conference on networked learning held at Lancaster University, UK, brought me some ideas and useful tips.
I met Peter Goodyear, well I saw him in the keynote, and I attended to some interesting presentations.
Among many interesting things, Goodyear mentioned three levels of learning through Online discussion: D) reading a post, C) use posting to add ideas, B)evaluate a post and A) committing thoughts to a challenging post.
He concluded his talk by saying “You learn how to play tennis by playing tennis” no matter how many times you watch people playing tennis, you won’t experience what playing tennis is unless you play it.
One of the papers that caught my attention was the one by Michael Hammond, (Warwick University) about the learning opportunities of Blogs.
